I am a 28 year old teacher who has decided several times that I have to make the journey to a healthier lifestyle. I am trying to figure out what works for me and what doesn’t. So far, I know obsessive calorie counting is unrealistic at best, denying myself an occasional treat is a recipe for long-term failure, putting foods on a “no” list only makes me want them more, and that it is possible to replace not so healthy foods with better choices and not feel deprived. Here, I will be chronicling my efforts and the rest of my discoveries along the road to health.
My Goals
I have wrestled and yo-yoed for years, and I am ready to set down my yo-yo and move on to bigger and better things. For years, even at my healthiest, I have wrestled with a carb addiction and very unhealthy eating patterns. I am trying to learn how to eat to live and walk away from living to eat. I have about 50 lbs to lose, and as much as I would love to do it quickly, I know that it takes hard work and time to do it right. I don't ever want to find myself back in this position, so I'm trying to train myself to make better choices and to be more consistent about them.SGBC
